An HP Mini 1151 is a netbook computer with USB ports for hooking up
other equipment. To connect the Mini 1151 to a desktop PC, such as for
exchanging files, you need a bridged USB cable that allows two-way
communication between the computers. A standard USB cable will not work
and might, in fact, burn out the USB ports on the PC and the Mini 1151.
Bridged USB cables come with software on a CD that must be installed, so
the computers can communicate with each other.
Instructions
1. Eject the CD-ROM tray on the desktop to insert the software disc that
comes with your USB cable. Close the tray, and click the on-screen
buttons as instructed when the CD begins playing automatically. Remove
the CD, and shut down the desktop when finished.
2. Install the software on the HP Mini 1151 in the same manner as the PC, then remove the disc and shut down the notebook.
3. Plug the USB bridged cable into one of the two ports on the edge of the
HP Mini 1151, and connect the other end to any unused port on the
desktop
4. Turn on both computers, which will recognize the bridged cable
connection, and launch the software. You can then drag and drop files in
both directions from one device to another.
