Disassembling your netbook lets you know with where all of the major
components on your HP Mini 110, HP Mini 1103 or Compaq Mini CQ10 netbook
are located. Knowing where your components are and how to access them
will allow you to replace components that no longer work or upgrade
components to increase the performance of your netbook. Disassembling
your HP or Compaq netbook requires only a Phillips screwdriver.
Instructions
1. Turn off the HP Mini 110, HP Mini 1103 or Compaq Mini CQ10 netbook.
Disconnect any devices and unplug any cables connected to the netbook.
Turn the netbook upside down and place it on a flat surface. Rotate the
netbook until the battery is next to you.
2. Move the battery-unlock latch on the right side of the battery to the
left until it clicks into place. Move the battery-release latch on the
left side of the battery to the right until the battery pops out of the
battery bay. Remove the battery.
3. Slide the base cover-release switch along the middle of the back wall in
the battery bay to the right. Lift and remove the base cover.
4. Lift the black plastic piece covering the hard drive bracket, located
above the battery bay, and fold it back. Remove the two screws on the
left side of the bracket and the one screw on the right side of the
bracket using a Phillips screwdriver. Lift and remove the bracket.
5. Remove the screw just outside of the lower-left corner of the hard drive
bay, the upper-right corner of the hard drive bay and the upper-middle
part of the hard drive bay.
6. Push the black holding clips on the two short sides of the memory module
in the upper-right corner of the HP or Compaq netbook away from the
module. The module will pop up at a 45-degree angle. Carefully pull the
module out of the slot.
7. Unplug the antenna cables from the WLAN module, located in the
upper-right corner of the HP or Compaq netbook. Remove the two screws
from the bottom of the module, causing it to raise upward at a 45-degree
angle. Carefully pull the WLAN module out of the netbook.
8. Unplug the RTC battery cable from the netbook. The RTC battery cable is
located just above the RTC battery, which is located to the left of the
WLAN module. Lift and remove the RTC battery.
9. Turn the netbook right-side up. Open the display.
10. Lift the back section of the keyboard and slide it back one inch toward
the display to expose the ribbon cable just above the touchpad
connecting the keyboard to the netbook. Lift up the black connector
holding the ribbon cable in the netbook and carefully remove the ribbon
cable. Lift and remove the keyboard.
